Current Production Area in the Park: It is prepared within the Park territory, especially in Abruzzi.
Description
Many of the liquors you can taste in the Park area are still produced with a traditional method also at home. Ratafia is a traditional liquor of Abruzzi, with a sweet and pleasant taste, and an alcoholic content varying according to the production method, but not over 22°. It has a more or less intense red color and the characteristic smell of sour cherry and wild berries. It is usually drunk when it is young, to better appreciate the aromas. It is prepared with ripe sour cherries, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo red wine, sugar, natural aromas, and sometimes small quantities of alcohol.
