History
The origins of fiadone date back to the times of Messisburgo, and the product is mentioned in the "Renaissance carver" of Ferrara court; the recipe gets to Abruzzi because it included saffron as an ingredient. With the passing of time, the recipe has changed adapting to the various local realities.
Current Production Area in the Park: It is produced, with some variations, in the Abruzzi territory of the protected area.
Description
A traditional product of Regione Abruzzo, Fiadone is a thin pastry envelope filled with cheese and/or ricotta cheese and eggs. After cooking, it gains a beautiful golden and translucent color, while the filling maintains a significant consistency and gives the product a fragrant cheese smell.
